Our chapter is looking for a DXF format of the FFA Emblem to be used on our Plasma CAM machine. Does anyone have a file they would be able to share or information on how we can convert a JPEG to the required DXF format for cutting.
Here is a DXF I pulled from Plasma Spider. It is a great resource we use in our program for our CAD designs.
A teacher in my district did one about 4 or 5 feet tall for a TAAE fundraiser. I'll see if he has the DXF, but I would like to get the instructions to do the conversion, too.
We were able to download and attempt to cut the FFA emblem today on a smaller basis than 4x4 but need to find the right size so we don't lose some of the detail.
Looks like Josh got you a nice DXF of the emblem. But for future use, you can import a bmp. file into PlasmaCam to cut.
Looks like Josh beat me to it. I found the same one on Plasma Spider.
Vay, do you know if I could do something like that with the TorchMate program? I may give it a try if I get the chance to play with it this evening. Are you doing that in a CAD program, or a torch controller program? Thanks for the help.
I'm doing that in the Plasma Cam program. The Plasma Cam program is the drawing program and torch controller program all in one. So you don't have to drawn your stuff in one program and cut it in another like you do with Torchmate and Prostar.
The Torchmate program you can import a bitmap as well. When you import the bitmap, you'll want to make sure its a small pic. Compress it to an email size pic. If its too large it will take a long time to import into the Torchmate program. You can always scale the drawing later to a larger size if needed. Once you have imported it, you'll want to smooth out he lines on the pic, because they'll be pixelated. There is a vectorization function that will allow you to do this. It's been a while since I used the Torchmate program, so I don't recall exactly where to perform this.
Don't know if anyone has found this, but if you click on the link at Plasma Spider for "1500 Premium Ready Designs" you can download free dxf files from the site. I just downloaded over 20 so hopefully they are all good.
