I was watching Mysteries at the Museum today and saw this clip about the start of FDA food regulations and I thought it would be a great intro for someone teaching food science. There are two parts, it was split up by a commercial but this is the link to the second part. It talks about how food companies were using borax and formaldehyde as preservatives and how Harvey Wiley did an experiment to prove that this was not good for human health. I hope someone can use it!
