I am looking for some new activities for my welding class for subs. Does anyone have anything fun to share. Or something that works pretty well. My sub I am going to be having isn't a good fit for having this group out in the shop.
I would recommend having your students work on converting a project into a bill of materials.... if you want to add some additional variables like making 25 or adding 25% mark-up for labor, etc is what I would do. The more variables and more realistic the more likely they will be busy the entire period. http://www.docstoc.com/docs/129414572/2001-State-Ag-Mechanics-CDE
I am planning for a sub in my welding class later in the term and am planning on having the students spend half the class period (40mins) watching The History Channel's Modern Marvels Welding documentary, and then spending the last half of class investigating careers in welding, specifically the careers that were mentioned in the documentary. The students will then write an essay over the career they chose.
