I was recently approached (and asked), by my administration, to suggest certifications the students could earn while in my classes (Horticulture, Landscape Design, Ag Business). The availability or ability of the students to earn these certifications will directly impact my evaluation. I have had some of my students prepare for the state Pesticide Operators license test (which involved after school study sessions and a trip to DNR office to take the test), but I'm hoping there are other options.
Does anyone have any ideas or actual certification courses they would recommend for me to look into? I can think of only a few, but many require years in college or professional experience.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Hey Andrea -
Off the top of my head one comes to mind. How about the National Safe Tractor and Machinery Operation Program. Here is their website: http://www.extension.org/pages/67883/nstmop:-program-overview#.UnlxFqyaa1A
You have to become certified as an instructor but this could be useful in the horticulture industry with small tractors or skid steers.
If I think of any others I will repost!
