Does anyone have any rewards systems that are successful within your classroom? I have too many unmotivated students and I have considered a reward system as an option but I'm not sure how well I would keep up with it...
I use a ticket system-if I catch them being good, on task, etc, I give them a ticket. They drop the ticket into the bucket and then roughly once a month I draw a name. I put it on my winners list and they get a prize from the prize tub. Its just a bunch of freebies I collect from different conventions.
Love this idea! I think I could handle keeping up with that!
IF you give me your e-mail Heather, I can share a couple documents that I post in the classroom about this.
I would really appreciate that! email@example.com
I love that idea. Would you be willing to share your documents with me also? Thanks! Etta.Knuth@k12.sd.us
I recall a few good posts about FFA bucks or other reward programs that maybe you could tie into the classroom, or would at least give you some inspiration for a strictly classroom-based version.
I give out free homework passes to students i see who is well behaved and participates in that days lessons (i usually just do this with my rowdy classes) kids start to catch on over time and it improves their behavior bc they want a homework pass too! I tell them that if they lose it i will not issue them another one, so it also teaches them responsibility because kids loose everything!
I use bonus points on test for students to read out loud the material or bring in stuff or explain a concept to the class. Example 1 point per paragraph of reading out loud or 5 points for a feed tag label etc... I keep up with them in a notebook and add them at the end on the semester- I have been doing it long enough that students know it will help a "B" student become and "A" student at the end of the semester if they get point every opportunity- but i never give extra credit that is extra work for me-
I use class dojo. It's an easy way to give points for positive behaviors or monitor negative behaviors. Students earn points for rewards that you decide. You can also decide what they earn or lose points for. Kids love seeing when they get points--even in high school!!
Kelly, I just got onto Class Dojo, thanks for introducing me. I see so many uses for this. I will be using this in the future!
