Does anyone use an online "dropbox" for students? I will be having students write one page papers this week and would rather have them submit them online than print them out.
Although not a Dropbox per se, I use Edmodo witthey students. It allows them to set up an account and interact in a private community. You can post the paper requirements as an assignment and then have them upload their paper. A neat feature is you as a teacher can then annotate their paper to provide feedback. Edmodo is a tool I have found to helpeliminate papers.
We use Moodle, and although I'm in the early stages of implementation, I like the online submission features.
We also use Moodle and my students submit the majority of their work online through Google Docs. You can have the students set up their own collection, which is a folder where they can upload individual assignments, and have them share it with you. Each time they upload an assignment, it should send you an e-mail and you can grade it. I prefer the GoogleDocs submission option over the online submission feature on the Moodle course page because you can write directly on the documents your students share to provide instant feedback. Hope this helps!
This may not be as fancy as Edmodo or Moodle, but you could have the students simple email you the paper. All you need do is set a filter on your email accout to look for specific criteria, such as a specific subject line. Have the students put a specific title in the subject line of the email, then your email account will sort them accordingly.
