Hello, I am student teaching this fall and will be teaching a Forestry class for grades 11- 12. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share any materials you may have or suggestions or possible lesson ideas with me?
Here's the link to a similar post I had from last year, http://communities.naae.org/message/10979#10979. That may help you out a bit. Also, there are quite a few forestry related activities if you do a simple search of Communities of Practice.
My basic outline for the year I'm planning on:
Connect with your local natural resource people and foresters for ideas, guest speakers, field trips, etc. Good luck!
Here is a ppt that I do with my Environmental Resources kids. I pass out large index cards and 1 or 2 of the 'O' rings. I have the students take notes on one side and then every other day I let them use our computers to collect pictures of the leaves, bark and seeds to glue on the back side. Then once we get through all the trees we do walk around labs and in small groups they may use their note cards to identify the local trees.
