Does anyone happen to have a lesson plan or activities that help teach livestock grading to high school students? In my ANS 1 class we do a unit on Beef Quality & Yield Grades, Feeder Steer & Heifer Grades, Slaughter Grades, Feeder Swine and Slaughter Barrows and Gilts. The outline given to us by the state is very loose in how they describe these areas and my students (and I) are struggling to find a way for them to be able to use the information in context so that they can remember it and utilize it. I have tried charts, going to sales, having others come in that are livestock graders- but because these are first level students they aren't grasping the concept and I have yet to find a lesson that is simple enough that they aren't totally confussed.
