Hi - We are working on making some changes to our herdsmanship at fair. Do any of you have score sheets you use for herdsmanship at your fairs that you would be willing to share?
Annette, it looks like the communities have taken a bit of a vacation since school let out. I'm afraid I haven't taken kids to the fair since I left the classroom in 2007 and I can't say that I ever saw a herdsmen scoring rubric during the years that I did. It was always the extension folks walking around just picking in my experiences. Once I was asked to judge herdsmen at the National Junior Santa Gert show. I sketched out a quick rubric for myself and fellow judges on a paper napkin. I will try to remember the categories to give you a start. Our group of judges made several passes through the barn separately and in pairs throughout the show to get repeated measures for each item. Hope this helps.
Thanks Nina - Sure wish we were out for the summer!
I'm trying to avoid the scenario where we write our criteria out on a napkin again - I thought if I went at it ahead of time, the students would do a better job. This is a start for us, thanks again.
A quick google search had several items that might be useful. Attached is one that seems to cover just about everything. Hope it helps?
Thank you - I always forget to google things. It's such a simple thing to do and yet the last thing I think of.
