Does anyone send out a letter to potential students for FFA/ag? If so, what do you say?

This is a sample letter that I would send out to all incoming freshman in August before school started. Usually I would have the JH secretary include it in the back to school letter that the district would mail out. That way I didn't have to pay for postage and the majority parents read through that information thoroughly. It might also be a good idea before school gets out to give every 8th grader (or in your case 7th grader) the summer calendar of events that you would typically give to your membership and encourage them to attend some of the activities as a way to get involved early.
Here's what I use - I just update it every year. Some years our chapter president is on the ball and gets one written to go along with it.
I also do SAE visits in the summer when I know who's signed up for Ag Ed I. I "stole" a handbook idea from Laurel-Concord (somewhere here on CoP) and re-wrote it for our program here. Parents get that, and the student gets a copy of the POA during the SAE visit. That way students and parents know what's going on before the FFA year really starts.
