Attached are documents related to humane restraint of pets for a small animal veterinary science class. Students learn and then practice 5 kinds of restraint for dogs and cats first on stuff animals and then on actual animals during a "bring your pet to school" day. Students also learn how to conduct a physical exam on their pets in order to assess their vital signs. They have the opportunity to check the vitals of the animals brought to school on Parent's Day. Teachers also bring their pets to school to have them examined on this day - the students love this because they get to meet the pets of their teachers and the teachers enjoy knowing how their animal is physically doing.
What do you normally do for the introduction of the Restraint Unit? I'm trying to get plans put together for next year's class and I was curious.
