Hi Everyone

Happy Fall ya'll.  I truly hope that everything is going well for you and that you're getting ready to go to the NAAE Conference.  There will be lots of things happening that we need to be aware of.  I will be stepping down as your Region II VP and trying for NAAE President Elect.  There are a couple of other things that need to be brought to your attention.  (Please read below)

NAAE Membership Dues Increase Proposal
Dear NAAE members,
On behalf of the NAAE Board of Directors and staff, I want to start by saying that we are excited to have many of you join us at the 2021 NAAE Convention, which will take place November 29 - December 4, 2021 in New Orleans, Louisiana. NAAE Convention is such an exciting time for our organization; it's an opportunity for our members to earn professional development, network with colleagues and partners, celebrate our award winners, and perhaps most importantly, vote on important issues which will help direct the work of our organization into tomorrow.
As we prepare for convention, it is my responsibility as the Chief Executive Officer of NAAE to inform you of the two important issues that state delegates will vote on during the 2021 NAAE Convention:
NAAE Membership Dues Increase
If approved by state delegates at the 2021 NAAE Convention, a $5 membership dues increase would go into effect for the 2022-2023 membership year. Please note that this does not require a change to the NAAE Bylaws, as our bylaws outline a procedure for how NAAE can increase its yearly membership dues. To learn more about the need for this dues increase, please see the infographic attached below, as well as a letter from Stacy French, NAAE Finance Committee Chair.
Adding the Past NAAE President to the NAAE Board of Directors
The NAAE Board of Directors feel that this is an important change to assure that the experience and the wisdom of the most recent former president of NAAE is available for consultation and participation in the governance of our organization. State delegates will vote on a proposed amendment to the National Association of Agricultural Educators Bylaws. Please see the attached proposed amendment at the bottom of this email.
As always, I am proud and humbled to serve as the CEO of such an amazing group of educators. If you have questions, suggestions, or comments, feel free to contact me directly at asmith.naae@uky.edu.
