Pirate 101 - K. Grantham

Photo posted by Katlin Grantham on Jul 16, 2020

Hello! My name is Katlin Grantham and I am an agriculture teacher in Charles Town, WV at Washington High School. My husband and I (mostly him) farm around 500 acres in corn, soybean, beef cattle and sheep. He is a sheriff's deputy in our home county in addition to farming. We have two dogs - Auggie and Tillie and love spoiling our nieces and nephews. I love being able to bring real-life experiences into my classroom for my students.

I chose this as my playdoh creation because I got married in May! It wasn't the wedding we planned, but it was the celebration we needed. This represents me because of the season we are currently in. I am starting my 8th year teaching and not only is this year different because of COVID, but my partner-in-crime retired and his position is being filled by a long-term sub which means I am teaching mechanics! I teach animal science and plant science courses.... so this year will be really interesting. My husband has been a rock through the last couple of weeks, putting his own worries and stresses associated with his job aside, to help me better myself as a mechanics teacher. We've spent many evenings in the shop at school working and eating dinner on the tailgate.
