2019 National FFA Parliamentary Procedure Event (#SuperBowlLDE)

 The 2019 National FFA Parliamentary Procedure Event occurred from October 30th to November 1st at the Hyatt Regency in Indianapolis. The committee delivering the event was:

  • Daniel Foster, Superintendent, Penn State
  • Jim Connors, Associate Superintendent, University of Idaho
  • Marshall Baker, Committee Member, Oklahoma State
  • Roger Hanshaw, Committee Member, Bowles Rice LLP (West Virginia)
  • Will Fett, Committee Member, Iowa Agricultural Literacy Foundation
  • Kay Crews, Committee Member, President, American Institute of Parliamentarians (Texas)
  • Hugh Mooney, Committee Member, California Department of Education

 

We were pleased to have 42 teams competing. The 2019 National Champion was Nebraska (Imperial, Advisor: Jeremy Vlasin). The finals video is below. The order of presentation was: Nebraska (Imperial - 1st); California (O'Neals-minarets- 3rd); Washington (Tonasket- 4th), and Texas (Sandra Day O'Connor - 2nd)

 

 

 

The event had four primary components:

  • Written Exam (see attached key/master)
  • Minutes Practicum (see the attached master of questions, keys, and script).
  • Demonstration (see attached Preliminary AM/PM, Semifinals and Finals motions and individual questions)
  • Team Problem Solving Practicum (see attached Preliminary AM/PM and Semifinals problems)

The Society of Agricultural Education Parliamentarianspartners with the committee to provide an accreditation opportunity if students score 80% or better on the exam. In the 2019 event, 87 students achieved this status.

 

In addition, the American Institute of Parliamentarians provided membership to anyone who competed at Nationals in their organization from now until the age of 30. This is a significant in-kind donation. ($20/year per student; $240 total per student; $68,000+ total annual commitment for entire event)
