1) Whom could you invite into the classroom as part of an authentic audience for your students?
Being that im looking at Ag Business and live in a small town, I might try to bring in local business people to talk about their experience whether they are owners, managers or employees. Maybe even someone from the bank to talk about startup costs and business loans.
2) What opportunities do your students have to participate in competition outside the classroom?
Our school as 2 Ag teachers that are FFA sponsors and then I teach a couple of Ag classes. Although I’m not an FFA sponsor, any students in my classes are still eligible to participate in FFA. They just have to keep in touch with those teachers.
3) How can you use reflection to enhance your students’ learning experiences?
I think it might help my students to reflect on how the topics learned directly affect them. However, no matter how I break it down or stress it, they just will not grasp all that agriculture encompasses. They all just think Agriculture = FFA, im not an FFA member, so I’m NOT involved with agriculture.
