I agree with your Shark Tank idea. Maybe just add a prize for the top presentation? I think the hard thing my students have about the importance of inventions is that they don't have a strong production ag background to understand how much work is involved before many of these inventions. Maybe you could create a board game (Monopoly - replace houses with inventions?) that helps them see how much time has been saved and how much production has increased with the inventions?
