At Juniata Valley, they participate in trout in the classroom and I decided to turn this into my community-based unit of instruction. Attached I have the 3 lessons I taught to build up to the activity the students were to do. There is also the powerpoint I used in the second lesson and lastly the rubrics of expectations I had for each group's posters. what the students had to do was take the information that they learned and the information that they researched and compiled it into a research trifold. These trifold were then presented to the 1st-grade classrooms. the first-grade students have been coming over to see the trout for each stage of life, simply just to watch them get larger an larger. I took the partnership with the first grade to not only enhance the learning of my high school students but the first-grade students as well. After my students came up with the 3 trifolds and the activities they were going to do with the first graders we went over and presented them. The trifolds are also going to be informational boards for the public when the weather gets nice enough out for the trout to be released.
