Would love to have a full house next Wednesday at the TBL workshop. I have attached a pre-reading assignment that didn't make it out on the listserv. If you plan on attending, please read through it to allow a more authentic experience. The workshop info is included below as well. See y'all soon.

Title: Team-Based Learning: Engaging 21st Century Learners in a Learner-Centered Classroom

Presenters: OP McCubbins, Dr. Thomas Paulsen, and Dr. Ryan Anderson, Iowa State University, Ames, IA

Location: Prince of Wales, 2nd floor

Date and Time: Wednesay, November 18, 3:00 - 4:15 pm

Description: Authentic immersion into a TBL formatted workshop will actively engage the participants. Within the TBL format, participants will learn about the TBL model, its components, how to flip a classroom into TBL format, and the experienced benefits of flipping a course into TBL format. Specifically, the three different ways that small groups are used (casual use, cooperative learning, and TBL) and how they vary will be presented. The three phases (preparation, application, and assessment) and sequencing of major topical units within a TBL course will be discussed. Once this foundation is established participants will then learn the major components used in designing a TBL course.
