With my year long Horticulture class, I needed a project for the students to do in the winter without the greenhouse. So utilizing the Landscaping Principles and Practices text by Ingels, I developed a Landscape Design Project that has 5 phases of development. Students get to create their own site to develop, choose plant materials, calculate the cost of the design, draw the landscape and present their design to the class. The worksheets are in excel. The formulas are not entered on the price sheet, it is up to you if you want your students to use formulas or calculate each cost separately.

In class, we have already covered:

- history of landscape architecture and design

- principles of design

- basics of landscape drawing

- establishing a clients needs

- calculating the cost of a landscape
