As the demand rises for current, innovative science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) curriculum, the Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education continues to advance the rigor, course offerings, and accessibility of its curriculum for agriculture teachers. CASE Online provides teachers with additional resources and support for use in their classrooms as they implement CASE curriculum.

Originally designed to help facilitate End of Course (EoC) examinations, CASE Online now offers teachers the ability to facilitate their entire class through the web-based system.

CASE certified teachers can subscribe to CASE Online for the course(s) in which they are certified. Once they have their subscription, teachers can make course materials, such as worksheets and quizzes, available to their students either all at once, or they can release the materials as they cover the information in class. Once the materials are made available, each student enrolled in the course has 24-7 access to the curriculum and resources at home and at school through a password-protected internet account.

For Dale Cruzan, agriculture teacher at Allentown High School in Allentown, New Jersey, CASE Online has opened up new doors in his Animal and Plant Biotechnology course. Cruzan decided to implement CASE online in his course this past year, because it offered technology integration in the classroom, assessment proof for EoC's, and gave his students the ability to access the curriculum at school and at home.

"CASE Online has allowed me to spend more time with my students, rather than working on the curriculum," said Cruzan. "I have the ability to use pre-formed, standardized questions through the online system for quizzes and other activities. It makes one-on-one teaching much easier for me."

Cruzan says his principal also appreciates CASE Online because of the easily accessible resources for students, as well as the fact that CASE Online evaluates student content knowledge against a national scale.

"All of the study resources are available online," added Cruzan. "CASE Online holds both me and my students accountable in the classroom, providing a record of assignment submissions and completion.  Classroom assignments are more organized now and we have a record of student achievement, which makes my administrators happy. It is a great tool that enhances a great curriculum."

In an effort to continue to grow the online system, CASE recently hired Sara Cobb as its Online Learning Coordinator. Cobb will use the current teacher feedback to make enhancements to CASE Online. The goal for CASE Online is to become a complete online learning management system that eventually will allow students can work collaboratively from anywhere.
