My name is Katie Andrews and I am in my super senior year at Penn State University majoring in Agricultural and Extension Education. I was born and raised in Lancaster County on my family's poultry and crop farm. I am an alumni of the 4-H and FFA programs in addition to actively being involved in athletics. A few of the best experiences I have had at Penn State have included: being a member on the Penn State Women's Field Hockey, participating and dancing on stage at Penn State's Dance Marathon, being a member of Teach Ag! Society and Collegiate FFA, and working with the LifeLink PSU program. To cap off my Penn State career I will be student teaching in the Spring of 2016 at Big Spring High School in their agricultural education program. Below are three things that are a HUGE part of who I really am:
1. My Family: Not only do I get my personality and characteristic traits from these five goons but our "team" (as my dad calls us) has always been and always will be my support and inspiration.
2. Athletics: My family away from home has always been my teammates. Athletics has developed me to be a competitor, relentless, and tenacious, in addition to many other characteristics, but more importantly, has also introduced me to some of the most talented and special people I have ever met. After completing my athletic career, I started coaching and have found fulfillment and energy in doing so.
3. Sparkplug: Since I was once called this in an article, I have taken pride in wanting to be the spark plug in everything I do. I strive to be an activator and initiator with enthusiasm, positivity, and passion.
