Ambassador Spotlight: Victoria Herr

Victoria Herr

Victoria Herr is a 2017-2018 National Teach Ag Ambassador. She is a junior at Penn State University in State College, Pennsylvania.

Why did you decide to become an agriculture teacher?  After joining FFA my freshman year of high school, I quickly knew that I had found my place. My time in agricultural education and FFA gave me a confidence that has changed my life and that I am forever grateful for. One of my agriculture teachers, Mr. Fellenbaum, is the one who was always there to push and encourage me. Mr. Fellenbaum showed me what I was capable of and inspired me to become an agriculture teacher.

Advice for someone considering ag ed?  If your heart is in it, you could never go wrong! There will be challenges and hard days in any career, but I truly believe that for those who are passionate about agricultural education, there couldn’t be a more rewarding career. Never be afraid to seek help, the ag ed community is full of wise and experienced mentors who are more than happy to support the younger generations of educators!
