2019 FAST Symposium Application NOW LIVE
The 2019 Future Agriscience Teacher (FAST) Symposium application is now available online at and open to all current NAAE student members who are pursuing an agricultural education degree. Applications are due Sunday, February 10. Details and application information may be found using the link.

2019 National Agriscience Teacher Ambassador Academy Application NOW AVAILABLE
The National Agriscience Teacher Ambassador Academy (NATAA) has over 15 years of successfully cultivating agriscience and inquiry-based learning in agricultural education. The Academy serves to train agriculture teachers on how to enhance the science that is already present in agriculture, as well as develop students as problem solvers and thinkers through the inquiry-based teaching method.

Jr. MANRRS Grant Opportunity
The National Teach Ag Campaign, managed by the National Association of Agricultural Educators, is offering eight grants worth $1500 each to preservice agricultural education clubs or groups to develop and execute a collaborative and mentoring relationship with a Jr. MANRRS chapter in the area. If a Jr. MANRRS chapter does not exist the preservice cohort may use the funds to start a Jr. MANRRS chapter in the area. These grants are part of a pilot program that aims to:

  • Establish positive relationships among preservice agricultural education majors and the Jr. MANRRS chapter members. 
  • Plan, create and deliver agriculture-based content to Jr. MANRRS members through innovative and engaging formats. 
  • Practice teaching and lesson execution.

NAAE Co-Hosts Free Webinar!
Please join us for a FREE WEBINAR on March 13 or 14! The National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE), in partnership with The FOOD EVOLUTION Educational Outreach Coalition, invites you to an exclusive, free, online webinar. Together we hope to inspire teachers to use the Food Evolution film as a tool to engage their students in using scientific practices to guide their decision-making. Our hour-long webinar will introduce attendees to the film and its accompanying Educational Resource Guide. We will discuss the film and its classroom applications, model an activity from the guide, and allow time for Q&A with a member of the FOOD EVOLUTION film team. Teachers who attend the entire webinar will receive a FREE copy of the film and the Guide, and a certificate for 1 hour of professional development to submit to their district or administration. Click here for more information.

The National Teach Ag Campaign is seeking the nation’s most outstanding agricultural education majors to represent the profession as National Teach Ag Ambassadors at the 2019 National FFA Convention & Expo, October 27 to November 1 in Indianapolis, IN, and throughout the year at the state level. Click here for more information and to apply.

Online Professional Development: Global Learning (#GLAG19)
The Global Teach Ag! Initiative is conducting the 5th annual global learning in agriculture conference! #GLAG19: Cultivating Empathy in a Global World will provide “on-demand” and “live” opportunities to advance your capacity as a global agricultural educator, helping to prepare your students for the interconnected world of food, fiber, and natural resources. During the week of January 26th, with only a digital pass ($25), you have access to resources and best practices to help advance global learning in your program. While supplies last, there are also 100 “All-Access” Passes ($50) that include the Conference-in-A-Box. Fun fact: In 2018, we had an impression on 1,121,917 twitter accounts with the conversation about #GLAG18 – over 1 million accounts seeing school-based agricultural education talk about global issues. Here is a link to check out the conference program from last year. The keynote is Mr. Roger Thurow, Pulitzer Prize Finalist who is the author of Enough; The Last Hunger Season; and The First 1,000 days. Whether it’s during your prep hour or after school, for 15 minutes or the entire webinar -- join Penn State and the University of Minnesota to learn more about creating an inclusive environment for agricultural education students.

Vets on Call
Presented by Zoetis, the Veterinarians on Call YouTube channel features real-life vets doing a variety of tasks. This week, Dr. Lynn Locatelli helps re-design a ranch facility where calves are herded to be vaccinated and cows are checked for pregnancy and other health procedures. Click here to watch the video.

The Age of Aquarius: The 1960s and Girls in the FFA
That is the way many agriculture teachers cover this fact when they teach the FFA unit. It is sort of like flipping on a light switch. In 1969 it was decided to have girls in the FFA, so we flip the switch on. But there is really more to the story than a single fact that is covered in 15 seconds; it took years to get to this point. This Footnote will examine the girl membership issue in the context of the 1960s. Follow this link to read more.


Grants for Growing Application Now Open
FFA chapters can apply for a grant of up to $5,000 through the Grants for Growing program, sponsored by Tractor Supply Company (TSC).  The application closes Feb. 11. FFA advisors can log in to and apply for a competitive grant. The program provides funding to support local FFA projects that have the potential to be sustainable and benefit future FFA members. Applications must outline a new or existing school agricultural project. 

Funding is provided through consumer donations made by purchasing $1 paper emblems at TSC locations during checkout. The fundraising period will take place Feb. 13 – 24, during National FFA week.  Chapters are encouraged to work with their local TSC retailers to schedule times and activities at the store to engage customers and increase donations during the fundraising period.

2019 New Century Farmer Moving to Indy; Application Now Live
Know an FFA member who has experience in the field of production agriculture and plans to return to a career in production agriculture through work experience, training or other activities? Are they a former FFA member who is currently attending a two- or four-year college or university and between the ages of 18-24? Look into New Century Farmer! To be held July 7-13, 2019, in Indianapolis, Ind., this all-expenses-paid conference will be packed full of interactive workshops, field tours, visioning design, networking opportunities and financial planning. DUE FRIDAY - $1,200 Spring Semester-Long Living to Serve Grant 
There is still time to apply for a Spring Semester-Long Living to Serve Grant. Apply for up to $1,200 to support a semester-long service-learning project that addresses a community need in one of four focus areas: Community Safety; Hunger, Health and Nutrition; Environmental Responsibility and Community Engagement.  Need ideas for semester-long service-learning projects? DUE FRIDAY - FFA WEEK Day of Service Mini-Grants
National FFA Week is right around the corner (Feb. 16-23), so now is the time to plan for your chapter’s service event. Chapters can receive a reimbursable grant of up to $400 with a Living to Serve Day of Service Mini-Grant to support their FFA Week service activities. FFA Alumni and Supporters Grant Report Deadline
If your chapter received a 2018 FFA Alumni and Supporters Grant, you must submit a grant report form by Feb. 1 to be eligible for 2019 grant funding. The first 2019 grant application deadline is March 1. Learn more about the alumni and supporters grants.

Student Video Contest
ACTE has teamed up with NASA HUNCH for the CTE Month® video challenge! This year’s theme, Working Out of This World, will allow students to produce short videos (two minutes or less in length) featuring careers, products or services that could be used in future space missions. This is a great opportunity to celebrate CTE and project-based learning programs. The deadline for students to submit their videos is Feb. 1Learn more

Nancy Trivette Welcomed as the CASE Project Director
It is a pleasure to announce the hiring of Nancy Trivette as the CASE Project Director. Nancy is a longtime supporter and stakeholder for CASE. She has been a CASE State Leader since CASE’s inception in 2007, has served on the CASE Advisory Committee, and chaired the CASE Executive Committee. Nancy brings a wealth of experience to the CASE team after her 35-year career as the Program Leader for Agricultural Education at the New Jersey Department of Agriculture. Nancy is a familiar face to many after serving on and/or chairing several national agricultural education and FFA boards over the years. In addition, she is President-Elect of the Association of Career and Technical Education (ACTE).

Nancy’s focus is on staff development, strategic direction, and continued development of CASE.  Her extensive experience as a state leader, strong connections to career and technical education, and relationship with industry partners is an asset to CASE.

2019 CASE Institute Registration Now Open
CASE is excited to announce registration is now open for the 2019 CASE Institutes, which will be held this upcoming summer! For more information and to register for a CASE Institute, please click here.


Many CASE Institutes’ registrations filled quickly last year, so teachers should be sure to register as soon as they have secured the appropriate funding. Please note that any registration canceled within 30 days of the start of an Institute will be subject to a minimum $250 cancellation fee.
