Cooperative Education Program Coordinator Position Available

Apply for the 2018 Teach Ag Intern Position!
The intern position will start in May 2018 and the end date will depend on performance, but may last until April 2019. The intern will be stationed out of the NAAE office, located on the University of Kentucky campus, in Lexington, KY for eight weeks during the summer. 2018 State Teach Ag Results (STAR) Program Enrollment
The 2018 STAR program enrollment is open to all states who desire to create a recruitment and retention leadership team to address agriculture teacher supply and demand challenges in a meaningful and results-driven manner. Grant funds are available to all states who enroll and agree to the requirements of the program. Intent to participate forms are due by December 1 to be eligible for 2018 grant funds. 2018 National FFA Scholarship Application Now Live
Don’t wait until the last minute! Sign in to now to access the 2018 scholarship application. In 2017, we awarded $2.7 million in scholarships; one in every five members who applied received a scholarship.
Application deadlines for 2018:
  • The online application must be submitted prior to 11:59 p.m.* EST on Feb. 1, 2018 (no technical support after 5 p.m. EST).
  • The required Signature Pages must be mailed postmarked no later than Feb. 8, 2018.
  • FFA student membership must be submitted to the National FFA Organization no later than March 1, 2018.

Hurricanes Irma and Maria Relief for Puerto Rico
Many of you have reached out about helping our friends in Puerto Rico after hurricanes Irma and Maria. The situation, as widely reported, is devastating. There is significant catastrophic damage, and lines for rationed food, gas, and water often stretch for days. Survival remains the top priority. The storms have especially impacted our FFA members and advisors, many of whom work and live on the outskirts of the heaviest-populated centers.
National FFA recently established limited contact with state staff in Puerto Rico, and we are working with them to see how we can help. We will pass along news on how to support our FFA members in Puerto Rico when it becomes available. We ask that you direct any questions to our Local Program Success team.

Watch FFA in Action
If you haven’t had a chance, take a few minutes to check out our FFA Video Center. We have videos on topics ranging from careers in agriculture and FFA history to supervised agricultural experiences. Speaking of SAEs, we recently added a new video profile on FFA member Peyton Moore from Bullard, Texas, and her SAE in agritourism. She works on her family’s pumpkin patch. On fall weekends, people can pick their own pumpkins, and Peyton helps to educate them about how pumpkins are grown, and about agriculture in general.

$400 Day of Service Mini-Grant Available For National FFA Week Service Events
Is your FFA chapter planning to host a service event during National FFA Week in February? Apply for a Day of Service Mini-Grant by December 31st to help with logistical costs. To learn more about the grant and access the application in English or Spanish, visit

The 2018 CASE Institute Schedule is Now Available!

Registration for 2018 CASE Institutes opens December 1st. Each site can accommodate approximately 20 participants. This year’s offerings include several fast track institutes. Fast track institutes are for teachers with at least one prior CASE certification or the Pedagogical Theory and Implementation (PTI) training. Pre-Institute homework is required. PTI training must be completed prior to the kickoff of the fast track institute and will have online coursework and an additional fee. The hours to complete PTI training and a fast track institute will be similar to hours at a standard institute.Many CASE Institutes' registrations filled quickly last year, so teachers should be sure to register as soon as they secure the appropriate funding.

#TeachAgChats this Fall are on Thursday nights from 8pm EST to 9pm EST. They move quick! All are welcome, including: agriscience teachers, agriscience pre-service teachers, agriculture students, faculty concerned with advancing agricultural education, extension, leadership and communication strategies, and ANYONE who believes in agricultural education!!
