NAAE Communications/Marketing Coordinator Position Available

Apply for the 2018 Teach Ag Intern Position!
The intern position will start in May 2018 and the end date will depend on performance, but may last until April 2019. The intern will be stationed out of the NAAE office, located on the University of Kentucky campus, in Lexington, KY for eight weeks during the summer. The remainder of the internship will be completed remotely. Applications are due by Sunday, January 7th, 2018. Click here for more information and to apply.

2018 State Teach Ag Results (STAR) Program Enrollment
The 2018 STAR program enrollment is open to all states who desire to create a recruitment and retention leadership team to address agriculture teacher supply and demand challenges in a meaningful and results-driven manner. Grant funds are available to all states who enroll and agree to the requirements of the program. Intent to participate forms are due by December 1 to be eligible for 2018 grant funds. Hurricanes Irma and Maria Relief for Puerto Rico
Many of you have reached out about helping our friends in Puerto Rico, after hurricanes Irma and Maria. The situation, as widely reported, is devastating. There is significant catastrophic damage, and lines for rationed food, gas, and water often stretch for days.Survival remains the top priority. The storms have especially impacted our FFA members and advisors, many of whom work and live on the outskirts of the heaviest-populated centers.
National FFA recently established limited contact with state staff in Puerto Rico, and we are working with them to see how we can help. We will pass along news about how to support our FFA members in Puerto Rico, when it becomes available. We ask that you direct any questions to our Local Program Success team.

Apply Now for an SAE Grant — Deadline is This Wednesday!
Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAE) are a core part of agricultural education. Thanks to our sponsors, 152 SAE grants worth $1,000 each are available this year to help FFA members start or expand an SAE. Some grants also offer a matching $1,000 grant to FFA chapters.
To apply, members must log in to their FFA.org account. The application can be accessed through the Application Center; click Open Your FFA Dashboard on the top right of the website and select SAE Grant in the Apply Now toolbox. This link will take you to the Application Center, where you can access and complete the grant application. You can also access the application from the SAE Grants webpage (or from the FFA.org homepage, select Participate, then Grants & Scholarships, then SAE Grants). If you are an AET user, you can access the application from the AET website by clicking on Reports, then Degree/Application Manager, then select SAE Grants from the drop-down menu.Applications are due online this Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at 11:59 p.m. ET (phone and email assistance will not be available after 6 p.m. so don’t wait until the last minute). Watch FFA in Action
If you haven’t had a chance, take a few minutes to check out our FFA Video Center. We have videos on topics ranging from careers in agriculture and FFA history, to supervised agricultural experiences. Speaking of SAE's, we recently added a new video profile on FFA member Peyton Moore, from Bullard, Texas, and her SAE in agritourism. She works on her family’s pumpkin patch. On fall weekends, people can pick their own pumpkins while Peyton helps to educate them about how pumpkins are grown, as well as about agriculture in general.

$400 Day of Service Mini-Grant Available For National FFA Week Service Events

A reminder that the application for the FFA State Day of Service Grant is now available at www.ffa.org/livingtoserve/grants and is due December 1. Mobilizing Legions of Volunteers
The National FFA Alumni Association is proud to announce that growth in the association has hit another record! In 2009, there were 50,307 alumni members; today, there are 344,239 alumni members! Each day, the national staff works with the goal in mind to have more people at the local level helping our FFA chapters. More information on alumni membership can be found at FFA.org/joinalumni.

DuPont Pioneer Commits $175,000 to Food and Agricultural Education Grants
DuPont Pioneer will award $175,000 in grants to agriscience educators to fund training and classroom resources that will help them implement advanced agricultural curriculum. Grant recipients are teachers who are implementing Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education (CASE) in their classrooms. Click here for a link to the application. The 2018 CASE Institute Schedule is Now Available!

Registration for 2018 CASE Institutes opens December 1st. Each site can accommodate approximately 20 participants. This year’s offerings include several fast track institutes. Fast track institutes are for teachers with at least one prior CASE certification or the Pedagogical Theory and Implementation (PTI) training. Pre-Institute homework is required. PTI training must be completed prior to the kickoff of the fast track institute and will have online coursework and an additional fee. The hours to complete PTI training and a fast track institute will be similar to hours at a standard institute.Many CASE Institutes' registrations filled quickly last year, so teachers should be sure to register as soon as they secure the appropriate funding.
