National Agriscience Preservice Teacher Program Application Now Available
This fall, preservice teachers can apply to attend an interactive, hands-on agriscience training program at the 2017 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN. Selected participants will be challenged to develop inquiry-based lessons to use during their student-teaching experience, as well as when they enter the teaching profession. Vets on Call
Presented by Zoetis, the Veterinarians on Call YouTube channel features real-life vets doing a variety of tasks. This week, Dr. Krantz explains every antibiotic for pigs has a strict withdrawal time which farmers must adhere to, per federal regulations, to ensure the antibiotic is cleared from the pig’s system before the pig is sent to market. Blue Buffalo to Support the National FFA Organization in Partnership with Tractor Supply Co.
From now until Oct.1, for each 30-lb. bag of Blue Buffalo Adult Chicken & Brown Rice, Adult Lamb & Brown Rice or Adult Large Breed Chicken & Brown Rice purchased at Tractor Supply Stores nationwide, Blue Buffalo will make a donation to the National FFA Organization. Click herefor more information.

Apply Now: SAE Grants
The 2017 SAE Grant application is now open. Supervised agricultural experiences (SAE) are a core part of agricultural education. Thanks to our sponsors, 152 SAE Grants worth $1,000 each are available this year to help FFA members start or expand an SAE.

To apply, members must log in to their FFA.org account. The application can be accessed through the Application Center; click Open Your FFA Dashboard on the top right of the website and select SAE Grant in the Apply Now toolbox. This link will take you to the Application Center where you can access and complete the grant application. You can also access the application from the SAE Grants webpage (or from the FFA.org homepage, select Participate then Grants & Scholarships then SAE Grants). If you are an AET user, you can access the application from the AET website by clicking on Reports, then Degree/Application Manager, then selecting SAE Grants from the drop-down menu.

Applications are due online by Nov. 15, 2017, at 5 p.m. PT. SAE Grant recipients will be announced in late December, this year. Contact Brett Evans, SAE education specialist, at bevans@ffa.org or 317-803-4233 for questions.

Volunteer to Help at Convention
The educational development and evaluation team is seeking collegiate volunteers to assist with various expo booths and teacher workshops during the 90th National FFA Convention & Expo. Volunteers help with setup, facilitation/discussion with students, and teardown. Each volunteer will be assigned to one of the following areas: FFA educational resources booth, We Are FFA booth, AgExplorer booth, or teacher workshops. Click here to access the application and to find out more information on the responsibilities and duties of a volunteer. The deadline to apply is midnight EDT on Sept. 15, 2017.

$400 Day of Service Mini-Grant Available
Does your chapter have an idea to help with hurricane or wildfire relief? Apply for an FFA Day of Service Mini-Grant. The mini-grants are available to middle school, high school, and collegiate/alumni chapters to serve communities in one of four focus areas: Community Safety; Hunger, Health and Nutrition; Environmental Responsibility and Community Engagement.

Applications submitted by the last day of each month are reviewed and awarded by the 15th of the following month. Therefore, applications submitted by September 30th will be awarded by October 15th. To access the application in English or Spanish, visit www.ffa.org/livingtoserve/grants.

Join ACTE in Albuquerque, NM for the 2017 Best Practices and Innovations Conference, September 27-29. The annual Best Practices and Innovations in Career and Technical Education conference showcases the trending issues and best practices for CTE Administrators. Presented by NCLA and ACTE, Best Practices is co-hosted by Central New Mexico Community College and the New Mexico Association for Career and Technical Education.
