Marketing Committee Meeting
The summer meeting of the NAAE marketing committee will be held next Tuesday, August 15th at 7:00 p.m. eastern. Anyone who is interested is welcome to attend the meeting, which will be held via webinar. Only elected regional representatives can vote, but anyone can contribute to the discussion. To register for the meeting, visit the marketing committee page on Communities of Practice and look for the registration link in the top left corner of the page.

Apply for XLR8 2017
Retaining quality, experienced teachers is important to the future of agricultural education. That's why we developed XLR8 — the eXcellence in Leadership for Retention professional development program — to meet the needs of mid-career agriculture teachers.
The XLR8 program is for NAAE members who have been teaching between 7 and 15 years. Our goals for XLR8 participants are:
  • professional development specific to this stage of your career
  • leadership development with the goal of helping you mentor other teachers
  • an increase in your overall career longevity and satisfaction

Vets on Call
Presented by Zoetis, the Veterinarians on Call YouTube channel features real-life vets doing a variety of tasks. This week, Dr. Brittney Barton of Dallas cares for shelter cat Skinny, an obese, 42-pound feline who attracted global news attention when rescued as a stray in 2012. Click here to watch the video.

Looking for turn-key lessons and activities to start the new school year? Check out the new educational resources on My Journey! On the Explore webpage, you will find an ag innovation lesson from Dow AgroSciences and SAE Idea Cards to help students explore supervised agricultural experiences. Show students how to create the perfect resume using the FFA Resume Generator©, find a unique lesson about food labels and specific ingredients used in foods, and more on the Build webpage. The Connect webpage features an article from Successful Farming magazine on the upcoming solar eclipse.

FFA Alumni

National FFA Alumni Bylaw Amendments
Two official bylaw amendments will be presented to the alumni delegates at the 2017 annual meeting during the national convention and expo. The two amendments are:

1. To add a third past national officer to the alumni council and extend their terms from two to three years.

2. To redo the delegate allocation process.

These proposed bylaw amendments will be posted at FFA.org/support/alumni/events next week for the membership to review. Please email alumni@ffa.org for more information on becoming a delegate.
