The Council

Connecting With Our Teacher Leaders
Many of the National Council members and staff will be attending the National ACTE and NAAE conferences in Vegas this week. We look forward to celebrating the successes of our teachers both secondary and post-secondary. We look forward to networking with teachers and state leaders and sharing the new resources the Council is developing to support students and teachers in agricultural education across the country.
As we develop and share resources being created and supported by Council sponsors (John Deere and CSX), we are also thankful to the agricultural education-related organizations and state ag teacher organizations across the country for their support and contributions to grow and strengthen agricultural education. Everyone’s assistance to support the Council initiatives will assist teachers in saving time, increasing efficiency, and assisting students in academic and career success for the future. We look forward, this week, to sharing information on the National Quality Program Standards survey tools and new Supervised Agriculture Experience tools being developed. Along with those tools, we will be sharing many of our new projects, including the focus on a culture of safety, agricultural mechanics instruction, and resources to improve the public’s perception of agriculture and education. The meetings this week at NAAE and ACTE will continue to foster connections with partners and agricultural education leaders. The conversations and meetings will provide a forum for thought and direction and continue to identify opportunities and resources. Hope to see you at the conference this week.

Grants for Growing
The National FFA Foundation and Tractor Supply Company are excited to announce the return of the successful Grants for Growing Chapter Grant Program in early 2017.  In 2016, more than $500,000 in grants were awarded to over 370 chapters and 44 state FFA foundations.

In 2017, advisors will be required to complete a grant application online on Jan. 15 – Feb. 16. Eligibility will be based on how the money will be used, volunteer hours and promotional activities during the fundraising period, which in 2017 will be over National FFA Week, Feb. 17-26. Also, $1 paper emblems will be sold at Tractor Supply stores. Every dollar raised in your state stays in your state to help fund the grant project.
